What is Inside The Collective?
Inside The Collective is the editorial extension of consumer insights firm The Consumer Collective — a place where we share consumer signals and how we think about the consumer world in real time.
We write about fashion, beauty, retail, home, wellness and the broader forces shaping how people spend. But more importantly, we connect the dots between them — what’s driving demand, what’s shifting behavior and what it all means for business.
Each issue includes:
Consumer insights and observations on shifting culture: what’s resonating and why
Business signals: the brands, strategies and decisions worth paying attention to
The Analysis (for paid subscribers): our deeper dive into what is actually working right now and the underlying mechanics behind it
Paid subscribers get access to our most in-depth thinking, where we break down winning strategies, emerging opportunities and the patterns we’re seeing across sectors.
If you work in (or invest in) consumer brands, this newsletter is designed as a tool for you.

Who writes Inside The Collective?
Inside the Collective is written by The Consumer Collective’s cofounders, Allison Collins and Jessica Ramírez. It is not written by AI.
Who are we?
We’re friends and cofounders who turned a shared obsession with consumer behavior into a business.
Allison Collins spent more than 15 years as a business and financial journalist, most recently as an editor at WWD, where she covered beauty M&A, emerging brands and the consumer and cultural shifts shaping the industry. She uses data to back up her gut instinct on the products and trends that will resonate with people, and why.
Jessica Ramírez is a retail analyst and trend forecaster who has spent more than a decade advising investors and companies on how retail actually works, from margins to merchandising to management — helping companies and investors understand what consumers are doing, and how businesses can align themselves for the future.
Together, we bring two perspectives to the same question: what is happening in the consumer world, and what should executives do about it?
A small note
We write this the way we think — direct, specific and occasionally opinionated. If that’s useful for you, welcome!
